excelsior pass: your vaccine passport

New York State has introduced the Excelsior Pass, a free and secure way to provide digital proof of Covid-19 vaccination or negative test results.

Think of it as a passport to gain entry to sporting events, art performances and more. The Pass can be stored digitally on your smartphone with the Excelsior Pass Wallet app, which can be downloaded from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store for free.

With this Pass, businesses and venues can scan and validate your pass to ensure you meet the guidelines for entry. You will be asked to show a photo ID with your name and birthdate to prove the pass belongs to you.

The Pass does not eliminate the need to follow NY State and CDC guidelines regarding social distancing, the wearing of face masks and hand hygiene.

You will be able to show alternate proof of vaccination or testing.

To receive your Pass, you’ll need to complete some information to verify your identity. To get started with that, click here. Please note that you will have to be two weeks out from your last dose to sign up for the Pass. You will also need to visit the website BEFORE you download the app from the app store. Once you complete the information asked on the website, you will be directed to a page that enables you to print your Excelsior Pass.  From that page, you can place your smartphone camera up to the QR code to download the pass on to your phone. The QR code looks something like this:
