Judy Kass draws in her audience with soulful vocals and genre-bending exploration of guitar and piano. Her debut album, “Better Things” and her second CD, “Beyond the Ash and Steel” both appeared on the Folk DJ List of Top Albums. Judy’s 2017 single, “Look at Us Marching Now”, caught the attention of Christine Lavin, who created a music video of the song. A finalist in several songwriting competitions, Judy was recently named First Place Winner in the Singer/Songwriter category of the 21st Great American Song Contest. A free event. September 8-11 Virtual 2020 JazzFest
The 2020 JazzFest White Plains festival returns for its ninth year this September via Facebook and Zoom. The seven virtual events will feature performances and talks by several jazz stars in Westchester County and New York City, including eight-time Grammy Award nominee and composer Bobby Sanabria; singer Alexis Cole; and drummer Ulysses Owens Jr., who played on vocalist Kurt Elling’s Grammy-winning album Dedicated to You: Kurt Elling Sings the Music of Coltrane and Hartman. ArtsWestchester, City of White Plains and the White Plains Business Improvement District will present this season’s festival as a series of stimulating live-streamed programs. Programs will include thought-provoking discussions, energetic performances and educational demonstrations. The events are free but registration to attend is required.
