Lots to participate in this summer, locally. Here are some suggestions:
First, get your Summer Arts Pass
The specially-priced Summer Arts Pass has returned, for the five following local cultural institutions, and is available for purchase through JUNE 30, via the Jacob Burns Film Center’s website: burnsfilmcenter.org.
Use your Summer Arts Pass to enjoy a diverse slate of films that has been carefully curated at the Burns Film Center: from buzzworthy new releases and award-winning foreign films to eye-opening documentaries (914.773.7663, ext. 6).
Experience Historic Hudson Valley at Washington Irving’s Sunnyside; marvel at stained glass windows by master artists Henri Matisse and Marc Chagall at Union Church of Pocantico Hills; or be transported to the 1750s during a tour of Philipsburg Manor (914.366.6900).
Hudson Valley Shakespeare’s summer line-up features a Shakespearean favorite—The Comedy of Errors—alongside Thornton Wilder’s The Matchmaker, and Dave Malloy’s new a cappella chamber musical octet (845-265-9575).
Find orchestral and chamber music to opera, jazz, American roots, and international sounds at Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts. Celebrate the artists and genres you already love and discover those that are not on your playlist (914.232.125).
And Storm King unveils its new visitor welcome pavilions and landscapes for art, alongside special exhibitions by Kevin Beasley and Sonia Gomes. Rent a bike, ride the tram, join a free tour, or lounge among the art with a picnic lunch (845-534-3115).
