free tax prep

The AARP Foundation is again funding the Tax-Aide Program in 2024.  Offered in several libraries across Westchester County until April 15, trained volunteers will take your information for the 2023 tax year (including your 1099s, W-2s, expenses, ACA documents, a copy of last year’s return, etc.) to electronically submit your return to the IRS and to New York State (or any other state site). You’ll be provided a printed copy of your return for your records and any information regarding a refund or balance due.

The program is designed to help low- to middle-income taxpayers, with some emphasis on people over 60. There are some out-of-scope issues that volunteers are not allowed to handle (e.g., Schedule C businesses with net losses, employees, depreciation, or rental property).
